Myositis ossificans (MO) is a bone proliferation in a muscular area, usually exposed to contusion trauma; however, may be caused by repeated micro traumas and even by idiopathic way. In most cases affect only one muscle or a muscle group and the pterygoid muscle the most prevalent. Another muscles affect are quadriceps, gluteus, muscles of the hand and brachial. The incidence is higher in men and between the second and third decade of life.
