Abstract

Congenital kyphoscoliosis is a very complex pathology, due to its rapid progression, degree of severity, and also due to the association with other congenital syndromes, which makes its treatment quite challenging. We present a case of a 19-year-old patient with severe congenital kyphoscoliosis, who had already undergone an unsuccessful attempt with a surgical treatment in childhood. We describe the use of the posterior total osteotomy of VCR (Vertebral Column Ressection) type for the treatment of the case. We discussed the use of the technique, its potential complications and the evolution of the case during and after treatment.
