Abstract

Polydactyly of the hand is one of the most common congenital deformities. Extra numeric digits can be located on the radial and ulnar sides of the hand or centrally. For many patients with pre-axial (radial) or post-axial (ulnar) polydactyly, protocols and classification systems can aid treatment decisions. However, in cases of central polydactyly, a wide range of presentations is possible and, in more complex presentations, an individualized approach is often necessary. In this article we will present the approach of a complex case of a child with bilateral central polydactyly, 18 months old at the time of the operation and with the syndactyly of extra-numerical rays.
